Hemp versus Soy
Why not Soy over hemp? Isn't soy supposed to be the best protein suitable for vegetarians?
It's true that Soy is an excellent source of protein and has many versatile uses, however Hemp has several advantages over soy.
In powdered form, Soy is often processed with a solvent which has a negative impact on the environment and it could also be damaging to our own health. Hemp Protein Powder is extracted in a technique called, cold pressing. Absolutely no heat or chemicals are used. This is not only beneficial to the environment it ensures valuable vitamins and minerals are not destroyed and the proteins are not denatured during processing. Hemp grows very easily without the need for herbicides or pesticides. Soy is typically farm using Genetically Modified (GM) techniques.
Men are told by some sources to avoid Soy as it contains lots of Isoflavones. These are plant based oestrogens which may have a negative effect of male hormones.
Another reason some people avoid Soy is that the Protein in Soy contains oligosaccharides which in some people can cause stomach aches and wind. Hemp proteins do not contain any allergens.
Nutritionally, Hemp is also better than Soy as often Soy based products are often sweetened with sugars.
